Cross-Posted at: Enough is Enough Virginia Can anyone remember a campaign bouncing from place to place like that of John McCain? In just the past few weeks the McCain camp has made an unqualified and overtly political pick for VP , suspended his campaign to save the economy , embarked on savage attacks on Barack Obama and then backed off on them , announced a housing plan that everyone hates , announced some new plan to save the economy and then DROPPED the plan in the same day . I understand that the campaign is listing and needs a new direction, but I don’t think a new direction every single day is the kind of “steady hand at the tiller” image that the American people want to see in these challenging times. Open Thread: Oregon/Kentucky PrimariesFrom: raisingkaine.com Post Date: 2008-05-20 06:35:30 Please feel free to discuss the Oregon and Kentucky primaries specifically and the presidential race in general. It looks like Barack Obama will win Oregon tonight, Hillary Clinton will win Kentucky, and we’ll get another round of crazy spin from the Clinton campaign about how it’s really only big states , the math , not the math , the electoral college , only large, northeastern states that begin with the letter "N" , Michigan, where Clinton’s name was the only o... more Kaine to Endorse Connolly? From: raisingkaine.com Post Date: 2008-05-20 14:03:57 Very reliable sources have indicated that Governor Kaine is about to make a major mistake endorse Gerry Connolly in the 11th.
This, of course, would be a major mistake since Gerry is far from the best option - Leslie Byrne is a far better choice to represent the 11th. And she has experience (with it seniority) in that very job. See Lowell’s Top 10 Reasons to Vote for Leslie if you need a refresher.
As for Connolly, obviously the Governor needs a go... more Sen. Kennedy Diagnosed with Brain TumorFrom: raisingkaine.com Post Date: 2008-05-20 11:00:58 Just saw this distressing news : BOSTON -- Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor, according to his doctors. Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat said tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy. The senator, 76, has been hospitalized in Boston since Saturday, when he was airlifted from Cape Cod aft... more Jim Webb’s "blue-collar street cred"From: raisingkaine.com Post Date: 2008-05-20 08:50:53 Over at The Nation , Katrina Vanden Heuvel has some thoughts about Jim Webb:
Jim Webb can make the Four Seasons seem like a diner in Owensboro, Kentucky. It’s that kind of blue-collar street cred that may be just what it takes to propel the first term Senator from Virginia onto the Democratic ticket as Vice-President.
