By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: November 21, 2008 Everyone’s talking about a new New Deal, for obvious reasons. In 2008, as in 1932, a long era of Republican political dominance came to an end in the face of an economic and financial crisis that, in voters’ minds, both discredited the G.O.P.’s free-market ideology and undermined its claims of [...]... more

As I mentioned in one of my previous blog posts, my mother purchased a gift certificate for us a few years ago for the Mayflower Inn . If memory serves me correctly, we used it for a Valentine’s Day dinner, but I may be wrong. It was either that or New Year’s Eve. Anyway, we drove there at night and ... more

I was sitting in the house a few nights ago, when I heard a “thud.” It sounded kind of like a muffled explosion. As I remember back, I heard the thud right after I heard the fire siren go off at the fire house down the road. I looked out the window to see what it was and I saw the car across the street was on fire . I ran out to the living room and told Laura there was a fire across the street. We went out on the front step when we started seeing all the trucks pull up. There... more

The other day, during our Connecticut trip, I passed the 1000 mile mark in my almost new car . I was wondering when this was going to happen, since it’s been a while.
