There is currently a crisis emerging in mainstream media. It is called, we don’t check the facts or seek quotes from other parties in the know on a subject to see if it is correct or not before we publish. I actually love the Washington Post for it’s linking to sources and its page numbers on the online article - these provide great context and are things other newspapers would be wise to learn (and implement) pronto. It is a newspaper that overall that “gets it”. Calacanis: the Tony Robbins of Web 2.0
From: newsvine.in
Post Date: 2008-09-27 22:02:15

Jason Calacanis, the diminutive entrepreneur behind Weblogs Inc. and the “people-powered search engine” known as Mahalo, seems to be attempting to transform himself from just a scrappy CEO into a Web 2.0 cross between Deepak Chopra and Tony Robbins. It’s actually been coming for some time, but really kicked into gear when Jason stopped blogging and started sending out an email newsletter to a select group of followers. Of course, his missives routinely show up on various bl... more
Apple prepping own-brand networked TVs
From: lcdtvvsplasmatv.com
Post Date: 2008-10-11 04:04:24

Wondering why the Apple TV hasn’t been upgraded lately? The latest explanation is the Mac-maker’s working on its own TV, complete with the guts of its media streaming box shoehorned inside. According to a chat between Cnet’s Nate Lanxon and Valleywag’s Jason Calacanis, Apple is working on its own-brand of TVs, using technology from its LCD monitors and Apple TV. Calacanis told Cnet that he “knew first-hand that Apple was working on a networked television,” using the same 802.11n Wi-F... more
CNET UK Credits Claim That Apple Will Release Networked TVs

r2k writes "While the Apple rumours posted yesterday highlight some of the most commonly talked-about opinions, a writer for CNet UK sat down with Mahalo’s Jason Calacanis, who told CNet he knew for a fact that Apple is developing fully networked LCD TV sets. As the writer points out, Apple dropped ’Computer’ from its company name for a very good reason." Read more of this story at Slashdot. More... ... more

Yesterday I put a few items on Craigslist. This morning I had considerable spam. What is surprising about that is that all of it was from Gmail accounts. Doesn’t Google have controls that prevent mass emails from being sent from Gmail? ... more
John Edwards Campaign Disagrees With My Campaign is not Listening Statement
From: daviddalka.com
Post Date: 2007-01-17 17:30:34

Ryan M from the John Edwards campaign claims that the campaign is listening to the blogosphere / social media. Sorry Ryan, but the facts speak otherwise. On January 6th, 2007, I posted “How to Forge a New American Mandate Via Social Media Political Revolution” . There was a listing of the major candidates in one section of the post ”Scoble’s posts made me think how can we truly integrate social media into campaigns(and after the election). John Edwards said in ... more
Dell, Starting to Truly Listen
From: daviddalka.com
Post Date: 2007-01-17 13:51:26

When Dell launched their blog, I left a comment that was deleted (apparently by the PR firm that originally launched it) and I disagreed with those that said Dell was doing a good job with the blog . Fast forward several months. My Dell Dimension 9150 , bought last June, was recently having a problem with the keyboard space bar sticking (they should look into this spacebar failure as it should not occur on a new PC). I left a comment on the Dell blog about the issue. The c... more
Major Ice Storm Predicted from Dallas Northeast to Saint Louis
From: daviddalka.com
Post Date: 2007-01-13 14:37:32

If you know anyone in a line from roughly Dallas to Saint Louis - please IMMEDIATELY contact them to rush their preparations to completion . If this occurs as predicted, this will be a major event that will paralyze the region for several days, if not weeks. Worse, people will be in an almost complete news blackout as to what is going on. How nasty can an ice storm be ? Just look at these power towers that collapsed under the weight of the ice in Quebec in 1998 ! Power was not restored ... more
