“Spiritual maturity is the sine qua non* in the making of the spiritual counselor. Although the symptoms will be as varied as those counseled, the ultimate goal is aiding and guiding the person in spiritual growth. In bringing a person to maturity in Christ, the Holy Spirit must engineer the demise of the self-life through the Cross. To work in close cooperation with the Spirit, the counselor must first have gone over the road to the Cross and have appropriated the work of the Cross in His own life. Also, he must have successfully negotiated the terrain beyond the Cross if he is to know firsthand the perils of the victorious life and the spiritual warfare it necessarily entails.” — Charles R. Solomon, Counseling With The Mind OF Christ, p. 24

In the marketplace, everything is for us, for our pleasure, for our satisfaction, and we have come t... more THOT 4 2 DAY — 03.06.08From: springfieldcalvary.laboringinthelord.com Post Date: 2008-03-06 03:00:10 “I’m convinced that everything the church is supposed to do in this world is a by-product of spiritual worship, and that includes evangelism, missions, giving, works of mercy, education, and personal holiness and service. First God calls us to worship, then He sends us out to witness and work. God wants worship to come first, for only then will we be energized by His power and bring glory to His name. Worship puts God where He deserves to be and keeps man where he ought to be. ... more THOT 4 2 DAY — 03.07.08From: springfieldcalvary.laboringinthelord.com Post Date: 2008-03-07 03:00:08 “They love one another. They never fail to help widows; they save orphans from those who would hurt them. If they have something they give freely to the man who has nothing; if they see a stranger, they take him home, and are happy, as though he were a real brother. They don’t consider themselves brothers in the usual sense, but brothers instead through the Spirit of God.” — Aristides describing Christians to the Emperor Hadrian

I thought the old things had passed away, that all things had become new, and that my old, corrupt nature, the old life, was gone. But I found out, after serving Christ for a few months, that conversion was only like enlisting in the army –that there was a battle on hand.” — D.L. Moody
