I’ve been on a Tiki kick for a while now. Tiki refers to the tropical style that was popular in the 1940’s and 50’s after men served in the South Pacific. Exotic drinks and tropical decor was made popular by Trader Vic’s restaurants . I think my hobby started with listening to the Bachelor Pad radio show were it plays the lounge, exotica, and other music of the era. Then I started watching the Tiki Bar TV and was inspired by their giant wall of Tiki mugs. The show is just silly fun created by actors who have a fake bar in their apartment. Not to mention the drinks look pretty tasty. I just thought it was fun and I like the retro bar look.
I’ve been going to our local thrift stores and scoring some really nice mugs to start my collection. I was able to utilize my collection at my birthday party back in May. We treated our friends and family to a meal of corn salsa, garlic bread, and country ribs. The drinks of the night were Mojitos, Dark and S...

Meyer Lemon Tree From: notsocrafty.com Post Date: 2008-01-09 16:28:04
“On the First day of Christmas my true love gave to me,” .. A Meyer Lemon tree .

Meyer Lemons are a hybrid of lemon and a tangerine. The result is a sweeter less bitter fruit. My boyfriend surprised me on Christmas Eve with this little tree. So far it’s already yielded a few lemons. I’m keeping indo... more
I’ve been experimenting with my first indoor garden for the past couple of months. The set up is simple we are using flourescent lights, a work bench, and containers for the plants. The goal was to grow leafy vegetables and some herbs to get us by until spring. I started in late November and I have had a good amount of success. I had just begun to transplant a few outdoor but the weather is not cooperating.

Happy New Year! From: notsocrafty.com Post Date: 2008-01-01 17:12:28
Happy New Year! 2007 was a pretty interesting year. I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday. We had a few friends come over and we munched on some great snack foods and sipped champagne while playing Wii sports. You can’t get better than baked brie, cheese and artichoke dip, meat balls, ham and cheese puffs, and to top it off my friend brought cookies. ... more

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap,... more
