Foundation , by Isaac Asimov, is a must-read for the science-fiction aficionado. This is a real page-turner that makes one waste the whole day reading. The real problem, however, is that the pseudo-science and hand-waving grows at an exponential rate. After getting through the book, I decided to spoil the series for myself and read the Wikipedia synopsis. I saved myself quite a lot of time and energy seeing the characters go down the tube.
