Tokyo! Three Visions, One Blinding Trailer

Lately, we’ve been featuring a lot of cringe-worthy content here on SomethingXY. This caught my attention and brought to mind the discussion we had been having about movie posters . First, the original trailer to Tokyo!, a collection of three short films about the Japanese metropolis by Michel Gondry, Leos Carax and Bong Joon-Ho. Now the US trailer and my spiel after the jump. Okay, I get the three-colored metaphor, and the challenges that come with creating trailers for movies in other languages. But there is poor copywriting, stretched type, poor choice of music—picking Tokyo Police Club is like using a faux Chinese typeface for a Chinese restaurant.
