When I find good journalism, it’s revelatory — there’s just so little of it. Here’s some , about the vast number of foreclouses in California’s Inland Empire. Amazing story. Really puts a human side to all the stats and figures bandied about everywhere.

We have to get over the idea of an economy based on growth, for several reasons — among them is that if we as a species intend to continue to exist on this planet, there must be a huge decline in population in the next 100 years.
