VISITORS EVACUATE FLORIDA KEYS AS FAY NEARS - Canadian Press
As many as 25,000 vacationers started leaving the Florida Keys Sunday morning after officials ordered an evacuation in advance of approaching tropical storm Fay. The storm, which swept over Cuba, also prompted the evacuation of Florida residents living in mobile home parks and low-lying areas. The storm is forecast to hit the Florida Keys Monday night, with winds up to 50 mph expected. A hurricane watch was issued for the area, which means that the storm could progress to a hurricane within 36 hours. The storm could develop into a Category 1 hurricane if winds reach at least 74 mph.
