I just got a short email from one of our Loyal Readers who spotted a derailment of a MUNI LRV at Church and Duboce just 5 minutes ago (10:51am). I’m at home working so I can’t see for myself...if any Loyal Readers have eyewitness accounts or photos, send ’em in and we’ll post them (with credit given, of course!).
Another Loyal Reader, Brendan, posted this photo on TwitPic of the accident. Brendan posted on Twitter:
MUNI is handling this situation quite gracefully. Employees are out directing riders from Church to awaiting OB trains at Duboce.
Be sure to take alternate routes while this is fixed and stay safe out there! It seems the urgency of fixing up Duboce and Church’s rail lines and so on is more urgent than we thought. Too bad those big cuts from the state will delay maintenance projects like this.

As we all know, there’s loose talk of increasing fares to solve that whole "MUNI is poor" problem. Oddly enough, in all the discussions about Poor MUNI , no one seems to want to talk about the fact that as of today, they’re collecting maybe 30% of what they’re already owed.
Put it another way - this is like someone refusing to pick up 70% of their paychecks, then going to the boss and demanding a raise because they can’t pay rent or the grocery bill.

There’s no other way to say this - the unexpected news that Black Oak Books on Irving Street has suddenly closed just sucks. I got done with work early so I decided to take a long walk outside and make a few Irving and 9th stops before hiking up to Golden Gate Heights Park. Whilst talking to Alexis at Amazing Fantasy Comics , he told me that in fact, Black Oak Books at closed. I walked a few doors down and in fact, there was the notice on butcher paper.

It’s easy to forget why it is one chooses to live here, what with all the shenanigans and whatnots.
