Good morning. I had a great ride last night, a strong tailwind on the way out led to a fun high cadence spin on the way out and a lactic acid push on the way back. My wife didn’t think that a tailwind on the way out sounded like the optimal arrangment. But … it worked for me. Heh . Not getting “free market” and Islam. A contest and an admission . In praise of not multi-tasking . A lady . Feminisation and the Jew . The Christian carnival is at Bounded Irrationality . Prayer and the heart . Another Torture Question
From: pseudopolymath.com

Good morning. A new Patristics resource (HT: Mike Aquilina ). My (not entirely) guilty pleasure … a webcomic I read regularly. What do y’all read? On science and the new atheists . Apples and Quartz, a phrase borrowed, but applicable here . So … what’s eating you ? An old story which is not what you thought it was . A memory and hospitality . Obama: taxes noted , an epistle , and hate-filled speech . On modern Christian apologetics , it i... more
He’s Wrong

Post Date: 2008-03-25 17:34:58

I do believe it is possible for good, sound Protestants to observe such seasons, provided they redefine everything and do something very different from what gave rise to the historical practice in the first place. But it seems to me this is done with success rarely, and when it is successfully done, the question “why?” naturally arises. In my view, the impulse behind peniteni... more
