Today’s a special day, I baked a cake.
"Special day?" You say.
"Why yes," I reply, "It’s LOHO’s first anniversary." (awaits spontaneous rendition of "Happy Anniversary")
You may be wondering what the appropriate celebration would be, and I think, in your hearts, you already know the answer. DRINK. Get out your flasks (I know you all have them) and raise a toast to the blog Carrie Muskat calls "home to a bunch of sick m-f-ers."
Booze it up.
And don’t forget to pass the cake, so everyone gets a piece.
Fukudome goes from .142 to .400 in one day
He’s the greatest Cub hitter ever.
From the Trib:
It’s perhaps inevitable that some fans would make snap judgments on Kosuke Fukudome based on his first week of play in the Cactus League.
Anyone who signs a four-year contract for $48 million is going to be held to a high standard.
But Fukudome ...

by Matt Snyder Filed under: Cubs , Reds , NL Central , MLB Awards , MLB Media Watch The Rookie of the Year voting yesterday went as it should have, if you only look at the winners of the awards. It’s hard to congratulate the crusty old members of the Baseball Writers Association of America, though, in light of the fact that those two choices were awfully clear-cut. If you dive further into the results , however, you will be left scratching your head. Kosuke Fukudome netted... more
Cubs vs. Dodgers From: feeds.feedburner.com Post Date: 2008-09-28 14:08:32
It’s all settled, the Dodgers and their league-leading pitching staff will roll into Chicago starting Wednesday. The Cubs were 5-2 against them this season, including a three game sweep at home in three low-scoring games. They split a four game set in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers ride into October with a 17-7 record, albeit it against an extremely easy schedule (Padres, Diamondbacks, Giants, Rockies, Pirates).
I think the Cubs are the far superior team, but the Dodgers do ha... more
What a difference a year made for Soto Soto will sit Saturday, start Sunday This time last year, Geovany Soto was just happy to be in the bigs. This year, the rookie catcher is the leading candidate for NL Rookie of the Year, and may be the Cubs ‘ most valuable addition.

As soon as the lines come out, and the series prices are out. I will more than likely be going large on the Cubs to win there series. The Cubs are going to make it to the WS no question. I am hoping for atleast odds off 1.40+ for them. I’d rather back the series bets than backing each game. ... more
or: No Women Were Harmed in the Creation of this Post It takes a lot to get me to stand aside long-time Sun-Times sportswriter Carol Slezak. Most days, when she isn’t whining about how hard it is to live in Wrigleyville because, you know, there’s so damn many Wrigley Field patrons some days, she...... more
See? I’m not ALWAYS eating. Sometimes I just sit in a chair.
Today the newly-vegetarian Prince Fielder and the Northern Beer Team roll into Mesa for an afternoon dustup with the Cubs.
But before we get to the game: a contest.
As you all well know, yesterday the Cinncinnati Reds, in a move that can only be described as a double pile-driver to Reds fans, signed both Corey Patterson and Jerry Hairston, Jr. to minor league deals. What’s more, the Reds signed b... more
Nod to Wrigleyville for the link :
According to Jon Paul Morosi of the Detroit Free Press, "the Tigers have had general discussions with the Chicago Cubs about acquiring bullpen help." Detroit’s pen has dealt with all kinds of injuries this year.
Morosi implies that Brandon Inge could be a fit for the Cubs if he could prove a capable center fielder. Seems a long shot though. In any case, Ryan Dempster could be a possible fit for Detroit. He&rsqu... more
The last time the Cubs and Diamondbacks squared off, it was not good. Arizona swept the Cubs right out of the playoffs, turning 162 games of hard work into three games of sucky baseball. Wrigley Field only got one game of playoff baseball, and it was not a good one. So just like that, the season was over, leaving Cubs fans empty and having to console each other with man-love.
There, there, guy. It’ll be OK.
Now? Payback time, bitches, spring-training style. Carlos ... more
