I’m not sure that I want to admit this, but going into the weekend, I was worried about the campaign to collect 4,000 Signatures Supporting the University of San Diego’s Defense of Catholic Teaching .  I had doubts that we’d meet our daily quotas which would put us behind as we kick off a new week today. I forgot John Paul the Great : Be Not Afraid! As of 2328 CST on 8/24, we were 89 votes into Monday’s goal of 1,430.  If we keep the pace, we’ll surpass the original pro-Ruether petition sometime on Thursday morning.  By the way, our 1,233 signatures represents 57% of the pro-Ruether petition.  Not bad for four days work! That is how they offer him. As regards their property, they shall promise in the same petition under oath that they will never of themselves, or through an intermediar... more

From 1 Peter 4:13-14 . Rejoice in the measure that you share Christ’s sufferings.  When his glory is revealed, you will rejoice exultantly.  Happy are you when you are insulted for the sake of Christ, for then God’s Spirit in its glory has come to rest on you. Prayer: God our Father, you give us joy each year in honoring the memorial of Saint Lucy.  May her prayers be a source of help for us, and may her example of courage and chastity be our inspiration. My Conversation With Jimmy Lee

Congressional candidate Jimmy Lee called me this morning at home.  No, it wasn’t an automated call or a telemarketer.  I was Lee himself. He called to apologize for unsolicited emails I received and wrote about a few days ago.  I blasted his campaign for allowing volunteers to spam voters in the district. “I want you to know that I take personal responsibility for this,” he told me, “I want to apologize.” Very classy.  Apology accepted. ... more

Darrah announced immediately after the jury sat down. Only five investigators r... more
