Finally, it’s Friday, and I don’t have a game recap to write. Some notes for the past couple of weeks: Yesterday was a light day in D-II South men’s basketball, with the only game of note being Benedict’s double-OT win in the SIAC quarterfinals. The rest of the region has to be rooting Benedict on, since a loss would probably give the undeserving SIAC two bids to the NCAAs. The Lady Bisons lost to Valdosta State yesterday in women’s GSC action, probably ending their season (they were ranked #8 in the region heading into the tournament). Still, it’s hard to deny that Tim Kirby has been very successful rebuilding that team. The opening round games were last night, and everything went pretty much as expected. That’s bad news, at least relatively speaking, for the favorites, who suffer slightly in the updated Log5 predictions because of the increasing quality of their potential opponents. Some quick recaps: #5W Arkansas Tech 65, #4E Alabama-Huntsville 49 The Chargers bowed out with barely a whimper against Arkansas Tech, which is still playing without its best player, Darren Tarver. Defense was the s... more
GSC Tournament Log5 Predictions
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-03-05 15:24:01

Here are each team’s chances of winning the GSC Tournament, courtesy of the Log5 method: A few notes: Christian Brothers has been the best team in the GSC West by point differential, so that and their #2 seed gave them an edge over Harding, despite the tougher quarterfinal matchup. Even though UAH beat the Bisons twice this year, they’ve struggled through their conference schedule, being outscored by 4 points per game.  Thus, they have the longest odds of winning the tourna... more
