Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1 Delayed Till 2009?
Earlier this week, we had mentioned that Vodafone would be the very first carrier in the world to carry SE’s first Windows Mobile device . The release was slated for October but new reports are now coming up that a delay would push that date further back to December 2008 or January 2009.
Not funny Sony Ericsson! Apparently the delay is caused by SE not being able to make Windows Mobile 6.1 work cleanly and the way it wants to. Not surprising considering that SE has no prior experience in making Windows Mobile phone.
What’s funny was that WMExperts found that the device handled pretty well in their hands-on review back in April so they’re curious as to why SE would be using that as an excuse reason. Well looks like the Touch Pro by HTC will be getting a lot more alone time now than initially thought.

Arguably one of the most burdensome aspects of being a mobile professional is the inability to attain true mobility. A smart phone provides a tremendous advantage in that you can answer calls, check voicemail, and have e-mail forwarded while you are on the go.
How about faxes? And what about calls you cannot answer because you are with clients? Smart phones cannot provide these services (well, not on their own), so how much business opportunities are you missing as a mo... more

While there are clear benefits to being a mobile professional, one of the biggest burdens is attending to paperwork. Sure, the smart phone might have provided some relief in this arena recently, especially since it allows you to answer calls, check voicemail, and receive e-mail while on the go, but what else is there?
How about receiving and reviewing faxes? And calls that, while the mobile professional is occupied with a client or patient, cannot get answered? Although... more
HTC S740 From: thetechnologyblog.biz Post Date: 2008-10-27 07:01:37
HTC is now introducing the S740, the latest smartphone with piano black finish and faceted back, resembling a diamond. It is thinner than the Touch Pro. This new model runs on Windows Mobile Standard operating system and its screen is not touch sensitive. It has a side-slider with full QWERTY and a 12-key numeric keypad when closed. The QWERTY is different this time, it is in four instead of five rows.
The phone is a quad-band GSM and dual-band 900/2100 MHz UMTS/HSDPA 7.2 Mbps phone. Othe... more

E-mail bug hits Windows Mobile 6.1 phones
Every phone that runs Windows Mobile version 6 and later has a copy of the Windows Update application. However, I’ve yet to see a patch being offered for Windows Mobile 6 phones.
If your device runs Windows Mobile 6.1, you should be offered an update, because there’s a bug that corrupts your primary e-mail settings whenever you use an alternative SMTP e-mail server. That’s a bit annoying, to say the least. The Outlook Mobil... more

Britons are sending an average of 60 million more text messages per day from their mobile phones than they did this time last year, according to the latest industry figures, reported by The Daily Telegraph .
That equates to roughly 217 million messages per day, and more than 6.5 billion texts per month, says the report by the Mobile Data Association. In addition, British mobile phone users send almost 1.5 million picture and video-based text messages every day, an increase of 20 per cent o... more

You, DO know what’s happening on July 1st , right? No, I’m not talking about the Canada Day holiday in Canada (mind you since I am Canadian, it is a big deal for me), but since most of the readers are from the US, there’s something more important that is relevant for those in the US, specifically those in California and Washington. Ah, NOW you know what I’m talking about. Yes, it’s the hands free law that comes into effect on July 1st .

I was rather surprised when I got this email in my inbox. While it’s not rare for software companies to have their products packaged with new devices, it was in this case. This is not like those times when you buy an ETEN Glofiish M800 and receive a copy of Spb Mobile Shell . Or when I bought a HTC Universal several years back and got Spb’s GPRS Monitor.
No, this was the next level of integration. Toshiba now has what they call the Toshiba Touch Interface based on Mobile Shell and P... more
When I first reviewed Winterface , I was never expecting the number of comments that I got for that article. As of right now, there are 46 and who knows what the final number will be. It just goes to show that this application has a lot of potential and you are interested in it. VITO sure looks like they’ve got a rough diamond in their hands and it can only get better with your input.
Which was why we had a contest the next day to ask you what should be done to improve Winterface.... more
So Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta 1 is finally upon us and I was pretty excited about it. Up till now, I had been flip flopping between Opera Mini 4.1 and Skyfire 0.6 beta. Both had their pros and cons; I loved Opera Mini for the ability to give an overview of the site and double tapping on it would zoom in to a comfortable level for viewing. Skyfire was great for watching video sites like those on YouTube and I am sure there are users who prefer the custom zoom in/out. But now that Opera Mobile ... more
