The FanWing has to be weirdest aircraft ever devised: it doesn’t use rotors or jets for propulsion, but a patented “distributed-propulsion vortex-lift” technology which is similar to the blade cylinders used in harvesting machines. In fact, that’s exactly how it looks, a flying harvester. This prototype was presented at the recent Farnborough International Air Show, and seeing it flying in the video is weird, to say the least.
Despite the weirdness, it works. Not only that: this design allows for very steady flights and attack angles which are not possible in other aircraft without losing stability. The fan lets the aircraft to almost float in the air, with the capability of moving very slowly, resisting turbulence and winds with ease. The company claims that it also has a very low carbon footprint for “projected manned applications.” As the gallery shows, they are no...

Fortunately, someone has come up with a simple MacGyver-esque solution to this problem using nothing more than a Red Bull can and some double stick tape. The creator warns that it could interfere with your reception, but it shouldn’t pose much of...
more Outrage over physics drivers: Is Nvidia guilty? From: feeds.feedburner.com

Looking back in history, we notice that ATI’s first reaction to multi-GPU was negative, but the company followed suit with Crossfire and now the company is preaching about advantages of smaller GPUs instead of large monolithic dies. Later, AMD was downplaying the value of GPU physics and then announced that it found an agreement with Intel/Havok. But this move was "too little, too late" for companies like Epic and Futuremark, who made their design call years ago. AMD didn’t work on ...
