From Erica Barnett: I’ve said it before--but because some Slog readers seem to still think I believe any attack on Clinton is a sexist attack, I’ll say it again: The misogyny from the media, from supposedly liberal blogger doodz, commenters on this blog, and just about everywhere during this campaign has been despicable. This kind of shit ought to be behind us: Hillary Clinton is a bitch . A big ol’ bitchy bitch . And a cunt. A " big fucking whore ." Fortunately, you can "call a woman anything." She’s " Nurse Ratched ." She’ll castrate you if she gets a chance . She would like that. She’s a " She-Devil ." She’s a madam, and her daughter’s a whore . She’s frigid , and she can’t give head. She’s a " She-D evil." A lesbian . A nag . When things get tough, she cries like a big dumb GIRL . In fact, she’s just that -- a "little girl ." In FACT, she wants to "cry her way to the White House." ...

When Conservatives Heart Clinton...America Has Moved Left
From: feeds.dailykos.com
Post Date: 2008-12-02 13:30:03

There’s a whole lot of stupid coming from the right these days. Take, for example, conservative radio host Michael Reagan with CNN anchor Kiran Chetry on Tuesday morning. Reagan echoed Rush Limbugh’s argument that President-elect Obama’s selection of Hillary Clinton is a bow to the right, and that it has "liberal websites" like Daily Kos up in arms. Of course, anyone who bothers to check the facts knows that claim is simply not true . Moreover, underscoring his ignorance, ... more

Amidst all the speculation around who Governor David Paterson will tap to replace soon-to-be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as New York’s junior senator, Taegan Goddard gives us the following concerning rumors about former President Bill Clinton... Clinton Will Not Seek Wife’s Seat No news there. Bill hasn’t sought Hillary’s seat since before Chelsea was born. Now that we got that out of the way, I guess it’s safe to return to speculation around who Bi... more

federally funded censorship

Jenna Freedman posted an outrageous story about a medical database : Popline has made the word "abortion" a stopword, meaning you can’t search on the term; the database ignores the word as it ignores words like "the". Why? Popline responded that "We recently made all abortion terms stop words. As a federally funded project, we decided this was best for now." They recommend instead searching "fertility control, postconception". I fail to understand this rationale. Was their... more

Kathy G writes: His name at the pound was Jughead, but we changed it to Django*. Jughead is actually a pretty good name for him though, ’cause he’s plenty goofy. We adopted him two months ago; three months previous to that, we’d gone to CACC and adopted another wonderful little dog named Hildy**, who is just as adorable. I’d post a picture of her too, but I don’t have a good one (a situation which I hope to remedy soon). They are both sweet, fun dogs w... more

"When Bias is Bipartisan: Teaching About the Democratic Process in an Intellectual Property Law Republic"
From: sivacracy.net
Post Date: 2008-04-03 07:04:35

Abstract: This essay asserts that intellectual property law courses offer law professors the opportunity to teach subject areas rich with complicated statutory and court-made doctrines about which students do not usually have strong or extensively delineated moral views, giving everyone in the classroom a refreshing break from the traditional partisanship of political party politics. It explains that the politics of intellectual property law are somewhat insulated from traditional politic... more
