I have to say as a woman I believe the findings of Infosecurity Europe’s recent survey, which claims that women are more inclined than men to give away passwords for chocolate , to be seriously flawed. The survey found that women far more likely than males to give away their passwords to total strangers. Forty-five percent of women versus 10 percent of men were prepared to give away their passwords, to strangers masquerading as market researches with the lure of a chocolate bar as an incentive for filling in the survey. If I were to run into a “market researcher” on the street, sure, I’d give him my “password” for a Milky Way. I’d lie about my password, take the chocolate and run. Men might have done the same if the incentive was, let’s say, bacon. (more&#...

From: blog.laptopmag.com

Today we got wind from CeBIT that PCMCIA is going to be updating ExpressCard to version 2.0. The port standard, developed by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA), is better known as the small slot on the right or left side of most laptops that’s used as an accessory plug. ExpressCard modules are made for Wi-Fi cards, mobile broadband cards, extra USB 2.0 ports, and even for adding external displays. So we jumped on the phone with Manny Pitta, the marke... more

A contact of mine at the Wi-Fi Alliance just shot me an e-mail telling me that I have got to see Mariah Carey’s latest video. My first thought: Why is this guy telling me to watch a video titled “Touch My Body”? I’ve got to thank him for making my and my colleagues’ day. Turns out Mariah’s new video stars Jack McBrayer, who plays Kenneth on NBC’s 30 Rock. McBrayer plays CompuNerd (i.e., a member of the Geek Squad) who shows up at Carey&... more
Texting and Walking Injuries: Has it Happened to You?
From: blog.laptopmag.com

I came across this article this morning in the U.K.’s Daily Star . According to the article, a whopping 6 million Brits were injured while walking and texting. No joke: AN AMAZING six million Brits were injured last year while texting and using their mobiles. More than one in 10 people were hurt after stumbling into lampposts, bollards and litter bins in the street. They suffered “walk and text” wounds, ranging from bruises to broken noses and fractured skulls. Best part of the ... more
Razer Muscles Out Budget Gaming Mouse

Post Date: 2008-03-04 10:02:52

I don’t know who names gaming peripherals, but I could do a better job. Razer, famous for creating funky-named gaming mice like the Habu, Diamondback, and Boomslang announced a new mouse today: the Salmosa. Salmosa? Is that supposed to be some sort of dangerous mutant salmon? If I named gaming mice they’d have real names like the Razer “FaceSplitter.” The Razer “Grenade” (it could be forest green). The “CageFighter Pirate.” Or the Nunchuck…Th... more
