Those words have been ringing in my head all day today. They were spoken by a homeless man I met last night who was shivering outside an already full shelter. Temperatures were near or below freezing.
I had no idea what I was in for walking into FUEL, the Orchard’s monthly leadership gathering. Scott called it the C-note challenge: $100 in 100 minutes. Each group received $100 with the...... [Show More]
grace Post Source: chadvaughan.com Posted: Nov 14 2008 17:49:20
this week at our ascent program planning meeting, we discussed grace. matt shared some great quotes from martin luther.
If you are a preacher of mercy, do not preach an imaginary but the true mercy. If the mercy is true, you must therefore bear the true, not an imaginary sin. God does not save those who are only imaginary sinners. Be a sinner, and sin boldly, but let your trust in Christ b...... [Show More]
Scott Hodge tells it like it is: taking a church that has plateaued or is in decline to a level of healthy growth will be painful. Some people don’t like change. Some people like church to meet all of their needs. Some people like it small. Some people like it the "old way" because it’s their style. So transitioning a church into a healthy missional church will require sacri...... [Show More]
preparing the place Post Source: callmetravis.blogspot.com Posted: Nov 03 2008 21:53:00
As a church, we will be focusing attention on preparing the place for the spiritually disconnected guy who comes to check us out. We have to relate Jesus’ powerful message to people who are not use to being in a church. We have to be intentional in our planning. Here’s a great video that helps spur on some thoughts. 52 weeks Post Source: mikegoldsworthy.com Posted: Oct 29 2008 00:52:04
We came home today with 52 weeks of sermons mapped out for 2009. I honestly can’t believe it. But we’ve got some really quality and exciting stuff for next year. Our team did a great job of dreaming, challenging each other and working together. In fact, we finished about 16 hours earlier than I anticipated, which made this morning really relaxed and we left early.
I think part of...... [Show More]
watch for stars Post Source: www.brettmorey.net Posted: Oct 20 2008 15:59:00
Each day I follow around 30 blogs and online magazines. I am able to do that through the wonder of Google Reader. It gathers all of the new posts and allows me to breeze through them. Every day there are articles that I find meaningful for one reason or another so I use the “Starred Item” tool on Google Reader which allows me to save those posts.
Often I think about how I want to sha...... [Show More]

It’s hard to believe, but this past Sunday, October 12th, marked four years since my dad passed away. And even though the pain and grief is not nearly as sharp as it has been in years past, it still seems so unreal at times. But nonetheless, I am so thankful for God’s healing in mine and my family’s lives. God has been good to us.
Of course, it’s almost impossible t...... [Show More]
Amazing photos from www.scottf illmer.com I’ve been building a list of what I think are a few good quotes from speakers at the Catalyst Conference , as shared by several different bloggers and picked up from various interviews I listened to. Some of the quotes may not be word for word but should be, in essence, pretty close. Also posting links to a few interviews , videos , and interesting p...... [Show More]

We began MinistryCOM ‘08 on Friday morning with worship and prayer time. It was a great experience that I honestly have not had at a conference before. Then Scott Hodge , pastor of The Orchard , took the stage.
This guy is intense. I had the opportunity to hear him last year at Innovate’07. He delivered then…and he did it again. He has so much energy. He reminds me of an el...... [Show More]
